Hydrogen is seen as one of the solutions in the energy transition issue facing the Netherlands (as well as Norway, Australia, Morocco, Chile, Saudi Arabia, China and Japan) in the coming years. With hydrogen you can achieve the high temperatures needed for foundries, for example, or for the production of glass and ceramics. There are also direct applications in mobility and as a biofuel for aviation and shipping. In addition, hydrogen can be used to produce electricity. Because hydrogen can be stored relatively easily and cheaply, it can be used at times when wind and solar cannot meet the demand for electricity.
